Zusammenfassung:Clinical staff often do not know how to incorporate research findings into clinical practice. As a result, regional hospitals in Japan are in need of evidence-based education for nursing development. To examine and identify ways in which a clinically experienced advanced practice nurse (APN) assuming a position such as a nursing research leader, who has a Certified Nurse accreditation and an Master of Science in Nursing degree and is involved in cross-sectional and inter-organisational matters, has translated research evidence into nursing practice for clinical staff at a regional hospital. This study was based on the 'Records of Educational Activities' recorded by an APN. Qualitative and inductive methods were used to analyse the data. From 57 activity entries, six categories were identified. For staff members, the APN 'provided correct nursing instructions through communication with staff members who described their experiences', 'introduced evidence-informed practice and nurtured staff at their pace', and 'intervened by giving step-by-step assignments to staff'. For the management, nursing leaders and staff members, the APN 'promoted growth and development through constructive communication among all stakeholders'. For management, the APN facilitated the 'creation and expansion of APN intervention opportunities' as well as 'organisational development and strengthening by establishing a consultative process and introducing shared goals'. In addition to direct interventions aimed at clinical staff, the APN also focused on organisational development and worked with the management indirectly. Furthermore, the APN supported clinical staff to enable appropriate nursing practices.
