Ermash, chairman of Goskino, invited filmmakers to discuss four pictures made at Mosfil'm: Andrei Tarkovskii's "Zerkalo" ("The Mirror"), Andrei Smirnov's "Osen'" ("Autumn"), Andrei Mikhalkov-Konchalovskii's "Romans o vliublennykh" ("A Romance about Lovers"), and Iulii Karasik's "Samyi zharkii mesiats" ("The Hottest Month"). The discussion focuses on each picture's successes and failures, often referring to Soviet virtues and values. Karasik's film about factory work receives mixed comments, as does Smironov's "Autumn," which some say is not as good as Smironov's previous work. The Tarkovskii film is discussed in detail, with many saying they watched it multiple times, confirming the director's talent but expressing difficulty with the movie's structure and accessibility.
