Zusammenfassung: | The UK Coalition government announced plans for far reaching public spending cuts in its emergency budget in 2010. Since then there has been considerable discussion about the disproportionate impact these cuts are likely to have on women. Here, Stephenson and Harrison examine a recent report on the gender impact of the cuts in one medium-sized British city--Coventry--in the context of this widespread national concern. As the Report's authors, they argue that it provides a blueprint for the kind of analysis that should be carried out all over the country to ensure that the impact of spending cuts on women is better understood and acted upon. |
