Everything Rises & Falls on Leadership: Keeping Calm in the Storm

Nations, governments and companies rise and fall on the shoulders of their leadership. Difficult times abound, such as economic woes, financial improprieties, and business cycle peaks and valleys. Leadership helps weather all these storms. Turbulent times are sure to come. When they do, leaders must be the calm in the storm. This is particularly true in SH&E. Standing calm following an explosion or a fatality helps prevent widespread panic. Nothing will raise leaders in the eyes of their followers more than when they effectively handle crises. Calm leadership in the midst of a storm will do more to establish a leader than most any situation. Followers will speak of you with greater respect after you have led them through a storm.
