[...] she offered a succinct overview of the historical view of retirement in comparison to the contemporary view of retirement, part of which includes a retirement trend based around the idea of a "cycUc approach to life" (78). [...] she contrasted the recent Americanized view of retnement with a biblical view of retirement; she argued that retirement is a "relatively new concept" (74) that differs from the bibUcal view of not retiring but merely changing forms of work and service in later years of life.
