Zusammenfassung: | An abstract of a study by Marsland et al that identifies the perceptions of clinical dietitians (RDs) regarding the need to complete, prerequisites for, components and competencies of Advanced Practice Residencies (APRs) is presented. Results show that respondents thought prerequisites for an APR should include a minimum number of years of RD experience and a post-professional degree (36.1%). RDs agreed that expert-level mentorship from RD clinicians and other healthcare professionals (78.3%) should be included in APRs. For competencies that should be performed on medically complex patients at an advanced level, more than 90% of respondents agreed the competencies should address advanced level communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals; nutrition focused physical examination; and all components of the nutrition care process and model. |
