Zusammenfassung: | The eighth annual A. A. Sommer, Jr. lecture on corporate, securities and financial law is presented. The eighth annual A. A. Sommer, Jr. lecture on corporate, securities and financial law is presented. SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins was appointed to the Commission in 2002, making him the longest-serving current member of the Commission. Incidentally, he was appointed on Jul 29, 2002, which is the day before the effective date of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. His, tenure particularly in those challenging times, adds a degree of stability to a Commission that has experienced both numerous challenges and fairly frequent personnel changes, and obviously continuing to experience those changes. Commissioner Atkins received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he was senior student writing editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. He received his B.A. from Wofford College and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. |
