Possessed by Love, Thwarted by the Bell: An Overview of Kumi Odori
The influence from Japan to the north also played a role in the development of Okinawan kumi odori. Since the early seventeenth century, Japan was officially closed to foreign trade, except for a small number of Chinese and the Dutch in Nagasaki.
