Zusammenfassung:In this article, we attempt to question and to understand the context within which we find a sizeable increase in works and scholarship about the body, health, and exercise in the Fonds Ancien of the Library of the Faculty of Medicine in Montpellier. If the Reformation, Counter-Reformation, and also the advent of the printing press, as well as the rehabilitation of humanism may seem pertinent to understand this growth, other avenues must also be explored. Several hypotheses may be suggested. One can be linked to the publication on the Index Librorum Prohibitum, another to the fad of curio cabinets, and again to a protestant resistance to blacklisting.
