If I jettison identity issues, and, as do Guillaumin and French materialist feminists, if I conceptualize race or sex as a class, then I am a part of a non-white class, and my self-interest lies in fighting racism (and I feel a sense of entitlement to affirmative action; I know for certain, to take a small example, that my yearly sabbatical applications these last thirty years would not have been rejected had I been a white man).
