Zusammenfassung: | A notebook belonging to Brecht's mother Sophie was found in a collection in 2009. It sheds new light on her life. She was considered to be an aesthetic woman who influenced and supported her son when he discovered literature. Throughout her life she had a tendency towards melancholy and depression. These moods may have influenced Brecht's early socialization, his being different, the temporary inability to cope with life and various symptoms of different illnesses. Sophies Brecht's notebook must be considered the most important source concerning Brecht's childhood in more than thirty years. |
