Zusammenfassung:Unpublished letters from Berlau to Brecht were found in a collection in Augsburg, written between 1955-1956. The letters are a swansong for their relationship, which according to Brecht had long since ended, but which was still considered by Berlau that she hoped to maintain. The documents show the claim that Berlau wrote parts of Brecht's works and was exploited as an author by the playwright is absurd. This is attested to by her lack of linguistic competence, the embarrassing poems she adds to the letters, and her overall intellectual confusion and mediocrity, which cannot solely be explained by her mental illness and alcoholism.
