description | A study reflecting the perspectives of nine faculty members from Canada, Austria, Finland, Belgium, and Poland who were directly involved in the Displaced Persons Student Exchange Project, a four-year partnership that managed the exchange of 32 Canadian and 32 European Union students, adds to the expanding knowledge on international social work field placements. Focus group data provide insight into the challenges faced by project partners, the overall benefits of involvement, and the practice wisdom derived through participation in the project. The experience suggests that schools might reconsider those tendencies that limit participation in international field work placements and instead embrace international placements as unique opportunities for professional and personal development for both students and faculty. |
