The War of 1812 in the Age of Napoleon

The objective of this book is to place the War of 1812 in an international diplomatic, military, economic, and political context. In a lengthy first chapter Black places the war in the context of the American Revolution, explores the immediate causes of the war and the military cultures of Great Britain and the United States, and delves into the assumptions made on both sides about the other and the various strategies entertained by each.
