Rethinking Nutrition Education and Promotion

Fox talks about Child Nutrition Reauthorization--the legislation that authorizes all of the federal child nutrition programs including school lunch and breakfast. An important part of the debate, and one that will continue regardless of how the child nutrition bill ends up, is nutrition education in the years to come. An analysis of more than two dozen K-12th grade curricula found that most included behaviorally focused content and evaluations of food behavior but did not include a number of important strategies like community involvement, multi-component interventions, and multicultural features.
