Zusammenfassung:This paper examines the aspects of Silius' narrative of the white doe's sacrifice that preclude straightforward commendation of Fulvius. The suggestion of inappropriate use of force in Fulvius' sacrifice of a human-like creature is confirmed by his own excessive behavior during the assault on Capua. The passage suggests some of the problems that Rome will face as a consequence of victory.
