Evgenii Konstantinovich Fedorov (on the 100th anniversary of his birthday)

In April 2010, the scientific community marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of renowned scientist, geophysicist, polar explorer, and Hero of the Soviet Union, Academician Evgenii Konstantinovich Fedorov. Fedorov was born on April 10, 1910, in the city of Bendery in the province of Bessarabia. His father, Konstantin Nikolaevich, was a junior officer of the Bendery fortress. Fedorov studied at the pilot school attached to the Nizhni Novgorod Pedagogical Institute.
