Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, What have you changed your mind about? Today’s leading minds rethink everything, edited by John Brockman (see record 2009-09354-000). Brockman's online potpourri of fine writers on the Edge.org website is frequently challenging and almost always entertaining. Over the last few years, Brockman has posed a single question to these colleagues and published the resulting responses in this book. The book is a collection of 131 vignettes, each one to three pages in length, on a variety of themes including cognitive neuroscience, robotics, developmental evolutionary biology, computational neuroscience, philosophy of science, theoretical physics, psychology, and linguistics. Many of the authors are recognizable names in science, and a few are in the arts; the quality of the writing is superb. However, there is no index, no grouping of vignettes of similar content, and, ultimately, no evidence of any editing. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved) |
