Zusammenfassung:Discusses the need and the description of a rational college marking system. The foundation for such a system must be based on the conception of dignity of work required by the institution in question. A rational marking system would enable a proper division of grades. It has been proposed that the divisions in the system must be designated by letters or symbols and in this system five divisions have been used - Groups A, B, C, D, E. The growth in the number of colleges, and increase in the instructional staff, presence of young, inexperienced instructors, makes the need of a rational marking imperative. A rational grade implies impartiality on the part of the instructor and a uniform system of distribution. The data showing the actual discrepancies and the lack of uniformity found in the marking systems has been presented graphically.
