Simplicity in Statistics

Reviews the book, Introduction to Descriptive Statistics by Earl W. Kooker and George P. Robb (1982). As the title of this book indicates, the authors treat only topics in descriptive statistics; there is no intent to cover inferential statistics. The authors treat the usual topics of descriptive statistics graphing techniques, percentiles, central tendency, variability, standard scores, normal distribution, and correlation and regression. To attain this simplicity, the authors have eliminated a lot of unnecessary material, thus, the amount of material for each topic is minimal although sufficient. This would have provided a compact book on elementary statistics that would have been of greater usefulness to many courses and individuals.
