Zusammenfassung: | Questions the efficacy of the motivational model as a conceptual or practical tool for changing patient behavior in rehabilitation settings. Attempts to ascribe lack of patient involvement to inferred inner characteristics of the patient do little to change his/her performance. A behavioral model which examines the treatment environment itself is likely to be more effective in identifying methods for increasing adaptive patient behaviors than one which focuses entirely on altering inferred underlying motives.
