Zusammenfassung:Reviews the book, Childhood and Death edited by Hannelore Wass and Charles A. Corr (see record 1985-97347-000). According to the flyleaf, the book combines theory with practical information based on research, clinical observation, and case materials. This is an accurate description of the book as a whole, and surprisingly for a book of this sort, it is also an accurate description of many individual chapters. This volume would be most helpful for the health or mental-health professional who, in his or her work with children, has not looked into death-related issues beyond, perhaps, a workshop or brief seminar. The volume has no more than the usual amount of unevenness in style and approach for this kind of book, and the literacy level and extent of jargon are neither better nor worse than other multiauthored volumes. Wass and Corr accomplish their goal of bringing together a wide variety of materials directed at various audiences, organized around childhood and death.
