Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Aspects of Early Childhood Education: Theory to Research to Practice edited by Dale G. Range, James R. Layton, and Darrell L. Roubinek (1980). The intent of the author is to derive the implications of theory and research for program planning, teacher behavior, and early childhood personnel preparation. Close scrutiny of the material reveals some interesting discrepancies. The book (a) takes a very limited historical perspective, (b) offers little exposition of theory, (c) deals principally with the early primary years, and (d) offers prescriptions without discussion of their derivation. Both scholars and practitioners will be disappointed. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2017 APA, all rights reserved) |
