From Dream Analysis to Anger Scales

Reviews the book, Advances in Personality Assessment, Vol. 2 edited by James N. Butcher and Charles D. Spielberger (1983). Second in a series of books containing timely articles in personality assessment invited by the editors, this volume contains seven articles on topics ranging from dream analysis to specialized personality inventories. Piotrowski compares his "blind PDS" analysis of dreams in a single case to Biele's case record as a demonstration of "validity." It is unlikely that most readers will be convinced that the Perceptanalytic Dream System has any scientific validity or clinical value. Spielberger et al describe the development and validation of a new psychometric instrument for the assessment of anger.
