Learning and the School's Social System

Reviews the book, The Social Psychology of School Learning by James H. McMillan (Ed.) (1980). "The purpose of this book is to examine how student interaction with other students, teachers, and groups, and the organizational aspects of schooling affect student learning and the perceptions students have about appropriate behavior". The authors attempt to emphasize recent educational research in the framework of social psychology. Although this volume is not comprehensive, it certainly makes a significant contribution to several specific areas of the social psychology of school learning It should be a widely used reference in this developing field.
