Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Theory and Research in Abnormal Psychology. 2nd ed edited by David L. Rosenhan and Perry London (see record 1975-24432-000). This revised book of readings is designed to supplement abnormal psychology textbooks. Readings handily are cross-referenced with chapters of major textbooks and "think" questions appear to aid discussion. A primary feature is the reproduction of popular or classic articles rather than original manuscripts. Many readings are new and depart from traditional fare. This book mostly applies its philosophy by emphasizing behavior rather than mental disorders. Traditional chapters on the etiologies of mental illnesses are replaced by a section on the determinants of human behavior. Generally, the book is strong on clinical issues but moderately weak on abnormal behavior. Finally, articles on moral development and positive social behaviors gave the original edition a unique perspective on adjustment that is missed in this revision.
