Attitudes toward public low-rent housing, before and after construction

Interviews with neighbors of a planned low-rent housing project were conducted in 1950, and after the completion of the construction in 1952. Opposition was noticed to be generally less after the two-year period. Comparisons of persons and households from one survey to the next did not clearly indicate the source of the increased response in favor of the project. What changes did occur are considered to be the result of the appearance of the project, rather than of the new residents, since the second survey was held before the units were occupied. The first sample was 188 addresses, the second was 351, 96% of those contacted in each case.
