Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Advances in Behavioral Pharmacology, Vol. 1 edited by Travis Thompson and Peter B. Dews (1977). Behavioral Pharmacology means the study of the effects of drugs on behavior. The bias that many readers may find in this book is only apparent because it reflects a historical fact about the evolution of Behavioral Pharmacology. The contents of the volume itself fall into four clusters The first of these has to do with two "abused" drugs: Cannabis and ethanol. The second cluster of papers is directed toward stimulus factors in drug response. The final two chapters are designed to provide two kinds of perspective: One of these is historical; the second is prospective. Both make for interesting reading. This book contains the kind of carefully and critically compiled material to which one will refer time and time again. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2017 APA, all rights reserved) |
