Baedekers for Birds and Bees

Reviews the book, Animal Navigation by J. D. Carthy (see record 1958-00179-000). This book discusses various sensory cues employed by animals in short-and long-distance navigation. It seems to the reviewer, that the discussion suffers from the difficulty inherent in making any comparisons of animal and human ways. It is regrettable that not even a few selected references are included. This book has no new contributions to make. It is not a book for the scholar, but a popularized account of a difficult subject.
