Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Psychological Aspects of Geriatric Rehabilitation edited by Robert J. Hartke (1991). This edited volume is one of a continuing series of books from the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago devoted to clinical issues in rehabilitation settings. What is unique about the book is its focus on two areas often overlooked or underserved in rehabilitation literature--geriatric rehabilitation and psychological aspects of rehabilitation. This book breaks new ground in providing comprehensive coverage of psychological factors that impact on positive outcome in geriatric rehabilitation. It is both practical and scholarly. Like any edited volume, it suffers some unevenness in quality of writing and content from chapter to chapter. The major limitation is its narrow focus on inpatient rehabilitation settings. Yet this is a superb resource book for all rehabilitation professionals who work with geriatric patients. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved) |
