Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Educating Patients and Families About Mental Illness: A Practical Guide by Cynthia Carson Bisbee (see record 1992-97637-000). The manual is organized into three basic parts. There is an Introduction that provides a global overview of the organization and presentation of each training module as well as a rationale of how the training modules were constructed. Part 2 consists of patient education course plans. Each course is a discreet stand-alone module and the areas covered are indeed comprehensive. They include What is Mental Illness, Medication Management, Self-Observation and Illness Monitoring with an eye toward relapse prevention, Personal Hygiene, and a section on the Hazards of Substance Abuse as well as others. Part 3 consists of family education course plans, which are likewise comprehensive and instructive. Finally, there is a section that provides evaluation instruments thereby permitting an assessment of outcome relative to instruction. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved) |
