Zusammenfassung:Reviews the book, Teacher Effectiveness and Teacher Education by N. L. Gage (see record 1973-23761-000). This volume is best described as a set of essays which proceed from, and remain relatively close to, research methodology and research findings that apply to the effects of teaching and conditions that affect teachers. Each chapter except the first ("Overview") is a revised version of a paper written by the author. The revision of the originals is relatively extensive and reflects the author's continued thinking and rethinking as he added to, and reorganized, some of his ideas. This book forms an integrated presentation of the revised papers. Contents of the chapters range from psychological conceptions of teaching, theories and paradigms related to teaching, and matters of research design, to consideration of various aspects of new roles of teachers that may be required in the future.
