Reviews the book, Fundamentals of Sensory Physiology (3rd rev. ed.) edited by Robert F. Schmidt and Marguerite A. Biederman-Thorson (1986). This updating of an already excellent standard textbook on sensory physiology is most welcome. This edition retains the best features of its predecessors, most notably the carefully constructed outline organization matched to an extraordinarily complete index. Most of the changes incrementally incorporate new knowledge into the previously established structure.
