Zusammenfassung:Reviews the book, Traumatic Brain Injury, Vol. 1: Pathophysiology and Neuropsychological Evaluation by Ralph M. Reitan and Deborah Wolfson (1986). This is the first of a two-volume work on the use of the Halstead-Reitan Neuropsychological Battery (HRNB) for the assessment of the neurobehavioral consequences of tramatic head injury. The authors promise "a detailed presentation of a neuropsychological model of brain-behavior relationships" in the preface, with the intent to relate each test of the Battery to its general or specific implications regarding underlying neuropathological processes. The volume is most noteworthy for a literature review, beginning with early writers of clinical neuropsychological research in head injury. The authors argue that the case analysis approach that characterizes both their workshop activities and half of this volume provides a sound basis for the development of clinical skills.
