Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Education Before Five: A Handbook on Preschool Education by Betty D. Boegehold, Harriet K. Cuffaro, William H. Hooks, and Gordon J. Klopf (Eds.) (1977). This book consists of a collection of short essays written, with one exception, by faculty of the Bank Street College of Education. These essays are not likely to deepen anybody's understanding of child development, as claimed by Roberts in the introduction. The book's clear message is that the developmental interaction approach is an excellent basis for preschool education. Finally, I should mention that an attractive feature of this text is an extensive bibliography with references organized by categories covering general references, theory, administration, programs by type, and so forth.
