Zusammenfassung: | E. Lakin Phillips comments on Sol L. Garfield's review (see record 2006-06430-030) of the the book, Psychotherapy Revised: New Frontiers in Research and Practice by Phillips, Peter J. Fagan, Michael B. Kaiser, Diane M. DePalma, and Theodore J. C. Heavner (1985). Phillips says that Garfield's review includes some good points but fails on others. He equates client "premature termination" with the whole of the decay curve that describes how service delivery systems operate. Whenever begun--at intake/assessment or at the first accepted therapy interview-the decay curve remains the "same." Garfield's point regarding differentiating research from clinical practice in defining attrition overlooks our discussion of this and related matters and misses the point of the decay curve's significance.
