Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Introduction to Clinical Psychology: Perspectives, Issues, and Contributions to Human Service by Norman D. Sundberg, Julian R. Taplin, and Leona E. Tyler (1983). Organization and clarity are strong points of the book, and its theoretical perspectives-the theory of living systems, development, and a possibilities/alternative-choices orientation-are explicit. The author's efforts to be fair and to present a variety of ways of looking at problems result in a loss of the sense of integration that comes with the thorough conceptualization of a problem and its treatment within a single theoretical framework. This book is a useful survey for those who need an overview of the entire field, but an instructor at the graduate level would do well to take less comprehensive chunks with more meat on them.
