Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Nonverbal Behavior: A Functional Perspective. Springer Series in Social Psychology by Miles L. Patterson (1983). The author analyzes the use of nonverbal behavior as a vehicle to understand social processes. The book is an attempt to integrate patterns of nonverbal behavior as they serve, and help us to understand the meaning of, social interaction. In his attempts to integrate available data into a comprehensive theory, the author looks at groups of studies of nonverbal behavior and tries to discover meaningful sequences in terms of attribution, cognitive' focus, and motivations underlying a person's behavior. This book is an important contribution on the topic of nonverbal communication. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved) |
