Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Psychological Test Modifications by Milton Kornrich (Ed.) (see record 1966-02955-000). This book is a compilation of papers which concern themselves with methods of getting more out of standard projective tests. The reader can be grateful that it is not simply a series of new tests. Instead, the papers suggest sensitive extensions of the more thoroughly studied psychological tests while retaining their standardized methods. The collection's shortcoming is that which can be leveled against much clinical writing. The next step of validation of hypotheses which is needed to go along with hypotheses spinning has not yet been done. The papers can encourage one to stretch his clinical sensitivity but they can also encourage free floating confabulations. The recommendation of many of the writers to subject their methods to orderly research is well advised. Still, the admonition should not gainsay the necessary clinical finesse illustrated in the papers. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2017 APA, all rights reserved) |
