Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Einfühtung in die Wirtschaftsund Betriebspsychologie by Michael Erdélyi (1955). As the dust cover explains, this is the first systematic treatment in German of the applications of psychology to business and industrial problems. The discussion is directed to university or technical school student and the practical businessman. Treatment of employee training, job evaluation, and merit rating is correspondingly general, although here some illustrative examples have been included which will undoubtedly be of help to the uninitiated. Perhaps because the problems are so complex, the author's section on leadership and the handling of people in business and industry is his weakest, somewhat superficial. In sum, however, it may be said that the author has attained the goal he has set for himself: he has provided his German-speaking audience, many of whom have been out of touch with developments in America, with a useful overview of developments in the application of the principles of psychology to certain important problems in business and industry.
