Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Integrative Development of Brain and Behavior in the Dog by Michael W. Fox (see record 1973-01800-000). The author's stated purpose is to penetrate the methodological and semantic barriers that separate these fields in order to recognize behavioral and neural development "as a conceptually and ontogenetically integrated process." Overall, he is quite successful in his stated aim. The implications drawn from the data presented in the main body of the text (Chapters 2-6) and the conclusions which are developed most fully in the last chapter transcend traditional boundaries between disciplines. This book is much more than a collection of old articles, however. It is profusely illustrated, and Fox has included many useful charts and tables that correlate ontogenetic developmental patterns occurring in different systems and at different levels: anatomical, physiological, and behavioral.
