Community Mental Health: Hello and Goodbye?

Reviews the book, Community Mental Health: A General Introduction by Bernard L. Bloom (see record 1978-12838-000). The first section of the book reflects most closely Bloom's intent to introduce his readers to the field. The author puts it in its historical context, briefly identifying some of the precursors of community-based programs and highlighting the enhanced role of the federal government in the provision of mental health services. Bloom promised to provide a general introduction to community mental health. He succeeds in doing more than that. This book offers much to the various participants in the mental health scene.
