Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, Cognitive-behavioral therapy for PTSD: A case formulation approach by Claudia Zayfert and Carolyn Black Becker (see record 2007-00348-000). This timely book focuses on the cognitive-behavioral components of psychoeducation, imaginal and in vivo exposure, and cognitive restructuring, as well as systematically integrating necessary components of other treatments for comorbid disorders. This text manages to be a significant resource for clinicians of all levels. Although the book does require an understanding of the basic tenets of cognitive-behavioral theory, it is an excellent learning tool for graduate students or clinicians inexperienced with PTSD who may be preparing to tackle their first cases. Though the book may be used by inexperienced individuals, it is simultaneously an outstanding resource for the experienced clinician, particularly one who is currently being challenged by a PTSD patient who is not progressing in therapy. In short, this book is a significant contribution to the literature and belongs in the library of both novice and skilled cognitive-behavioral therapy clinicians. It will be a conduit to improve the lives of many suffering from PTSD. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved) |
