In Search of Connections Between Social and Personality Psychology

Reviews the book, Social Psychology: Studying Human Interaction by Charles Emerson Kimble (1990). This book takes a broad and integrative approach to social psychology. It is intended for a general introductory course in social psychology that includes both psychology majors and students not majoring in psychology. Although it is structured traditionally with the chapters generally flowing from intrapersonal processes (social cognition and attitudes) to interpersonal processes (social influence, group dynamics, and social relations), this text includes a two-chapter section titled Society and the Individual that immediately follows the opening chapter. This text is a well-structured and competently written offering that provides a valuable link between social and personality psychology.
