Zusammenfassung:Reviews the book, Social Psychology: Interdependence, Interaction, and Influence by James T. Tedeschi and Svenn Lindskold (see record 1976-23988-000). The authors' first aim is to integrate contemporary social psychology using the concepts of social influence theory. They also indicate a special concern with presenting theories and experimental research to buttress them. A little time spent perusing the notes on the dust cover and the preface will convince the reader that Tedeschi and Lindskold intend the book to be the premier text in social psychology. In spite of the intent to present social psychology in social influence terms, Tedeschi and Lindskold have not adopted the simple expedient of an initial chapter describing what social influence is. They often detail important and ground-breaking research at length rather than make simplistic statements followed by a multitude of references. In conclusion, this book is a worthwhile addition to the narrow range of textbooks suitable for advanced undergraduate and graduate students In addition, it will make a good source book for students and professionals alike.
