Zusammenfassung:Reviews the book, Educational Evaluation and Decision Making by Daniel L. Stufflebeam (1971). This book lives up to its dedication--"The purpose of evaluation is not to prove but to improve." I gladly accept the dictum that the purpose of evaluation should be to improve, not to prove. In accepting the suggestion, I additionally realize that the book brings me a long step forward in the design of an Educating Research Machine Game. I have to admit that the book is so explicit about how I should evaluate in the context of educational decision making that it occasionally becomes "cute," crossing over the line of merely helping the reader understand into the realm of deliberate and needless display of the writers' command.
