Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, The Order of Presentation in Persuasion by Carl I. Hovland, Wallace Mandell, Enid H. Campbell Timothy Brock, Abraham S. Luchins, Arthur R. Cohen, William J. McGuire, Irving L. Janis, Rosalind L. Feierabend, and Norman H. Anderson (see record 1959-01153-000). This book consists of eight experimental reports, each of which could be a journal article in its own right. In his admirable summary, Hovland not only states these conclusions precisely, but outlines the general communicative context in which they will probably hold. He details both the theoretical and the practical significance of the findings and devotes a great deal of attention to the further research problems they suggest. This section is bound to excite social psychologists who are active in communications research and to tempt them to start some experiments. They ought to hurry, too, for Hovland has undoubtedly planned many of the experiments he suggests and may, indeed, have some of them under way already.
