Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, The Instruments of Psychiatric Research edited by Chris Thompson (see record 1989-98082-000). The author's book is a laudable effort that merits the attention of all who pursue research in psychiatry. British in tone, it presents a broad smorgasbord of psychiatric diagnostic groups as they relate to current research instrumentation. The book succeeds most when individual authors take a stand on the relative merits and weaknesses of various instruments. The book illuminates just one important facet of psychiatric investigation: phenomenologic research measures. The aspiring researcher should not look upon this book as an attempt to "walk through" the entire research process. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved) |
