Zusammenfassung: | Reviews A Primer for Integrating Psychotherapies for Children and Adolescents (see record 1998-06112-000). In this work, Santostefano provides a critical analysis of many of the issues currently inhibiting integration of child and adolescent psychotherapies and provides a detailed description of his own model of integrated psychotherapy. He has written the primer for graduate students in their early stages of psychotherapy training, as well as their supervisors and teachers. He targets the early training period, hoping that at this stage students of psychotherapy may be more open to integration. He explains that his is only one example of psychotherapy integration, and asserts that the main goal of the book is to stimulate interest and enthusiasm for integration among child psychotherapists. Despite this assertion, the majority of the book is dedicated to explaining and supporting his model of psychotherapy integration. Overall, the reviewer believes this book will generate interest in psychotherapy integration, but that many newer practitioners and modern students of psychotherapy will be stimulated to find additional solutions to the dilemma of psychotherapy integration. This review briefly describes the format and contents of the book, highlights some of the book's strengths, and then discusses reasons why the author's integrated psychotherapy model is likely to have limited appeal.
