Zusammenfassung:The reviewer notes that this book (see record 1993-98609-000) will undoubtedly be of great interest to researchers and theorists in human reasoning. It has been more than a decade since a comprehensive review of the deductive reasoning literature has been published, and it is overdue. At the same time, the book offers a readable introduction to the psychology of deduction for most nonspecialists. The coverage is reasonably comprehensive, well balanced, and up-to-date; both sides of all questions (and answers) are presented, and the authors strive to tie diverse areas of research together without sacrificing the flavor of different, sometimes radically different, approaches. The issues and theories and the research that addresses them are presented in clear and interesting ways, and the reader is motivated to reason about reasoning. Overall, this is a well-written, balanced review of the research and theory on the psychology of deductive reasoning. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2017 APA, all rights reserved)
